Columbus – The following statement may be attributed to Auditor of State Dave Yost concerning the Ohio General Assembly’s passage of bipartisan redistricting reform legislation:

“Government works best when it’s truly representative of the people,” Auditor Yost said.  “The window of opportunity for change was closing quickly, and I applaud the General Assembly for its bipartisan work to reform our outdated apportionment system.”

The Auditor of State’s office, one of five independently elected statewide offices in Ohio, is responsible for auditing more than 5,800 state and local government agencies.  Under the direction of Auditor Dave Yost, the office also provides financial services to local governments, investigates and prevents fraud in public agencies and promotes transparency in government.
