Columbus – The following statement may be attributed to Auditor of State Dave Yost regarding the guilty plea entered today by former Brown County Deputy Clerk of Courts Heather Tapp.

“Tapp’s guilty plea is a victory for good government,” Auditor Yost said. “I could not be more proud of my office’s special audit staff and special prosecutor Bob Smith for working with the courts to uncover this corruption and bring Tapp to justice."

The Auditor of State’s office, one of five independently elected statewide offices in Ohio, is responsible for auditing more than 5,800 state and local government agencies.  Under the direction of Auditor Dave Yost, the office also provides financial services to local governments, investigates and prevents fraud in public agencies and promotes transparency in government.
