Statement from Auditor of State Dave Yost

Columbus – The following statement may be attributed to Auditor of State Dave Yost regarding the proposed constitutional amendment introduced today in the Ohio House.  Auditor Yost fully supports House Joint Resolution 4.  

“This amendment will keep the fingers of moneyed special interests out of the constitution and give the initiative process back to the people,” Auditor Yost said.  “I applaud Speaker Cliff Rosenberger and Representatives Mike Curtin and Ryan Smith for their leadership and will continue working with them on this important proposal.”

The Auditor of State’s office, one of five independently elected statewide offices in Ohio, is responsible for auditing more than 5,800 state and local government agencies.  Under the direction of Auditor Dave Yost, the office also provides financial services to local governments, investigates and prevents fraud in public agencies and promotes transparency in government.
